Putin urges Gazprom to secure gas supplies to Europe

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that Gazprom shouldtake great effort to ensure natural gas exports to Europe, which isexperiencing extreme cold temperatures, RIA-Novosti reports.Faced with severe weather conditions, some EU states complained earlierthis week that they are receiving less gas from Russia than expected,however, Gazprom, which supplies a quarter of Europe's gas imports, said itis delivering as much gas as it can under current contracts.

Russia has received permission to build the South Stream Gas Pipeline under the Black Sea. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz and thanked the Turkish authorities for the permission to construct the pipeline in the exclusive economic zone.

Nord Stream launch postponed to December 16

The Nord Stream Pipeline launch is still shut down. Its launch was postponed from December 15 to 16, Interfax reports.The pipeline was shut down on December 13 for technical reasons.

Nord Stream gas supplies halted

Gas supply through the Nord Stream pipeline were halted for three days from 9 am on December 13 to 9 pm on December 15 due to complex activities on the Gazprom pipeline, ITAR-TASS reports.

Gazprom reduces gas prices for European consumers

Russian energy giant Gazprom is planning a slight price reduction of gas prices for European consumers in Q1 2012, RIA Novosti cites the company head Alexey Miller.The average gas price in November 2011 was $446 per a thousand cubic meters. Gas volumes provided for Europe in 2012 will increase, especially with launch of the Nord Stream in early November.

Russia does not rule out chances of disputing third energy package of EU

Russia does not rule out legal chances to dispute the third energy package of the European Union, Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko said today, ITAR-TASS reports. Russia may argue that long-term contracts for Russian gas exports to Europe and related investment obligations and guarantees to consumers were signed long ago.

Nord Stream construction ahead of schedule

Russia continues construction of the Nord Stream project's second pipeline ahead of schedule, RIA Novosti reports on Wednesday.The first pipeline was launched on November 8th.  

Nord Stream deliver capacity to reach 1 million cubic meters of gas per hour

The speed of deliveries via the Nord Stream pipeline will amount to 1 million cubic meters per hour starting from 13.00 CET on Tuesday. The new speed will ensure the delivery of 8.5 billion cubic meters per year, the director on cooperation of the Nord Stream operator, Dirk von Ameln said at a news conference on Monday, RIA Novosti reports.

Nord Stream administration calls on banks to renegotiate credit terms

Nord Stream AG, the operator of the pipeline project "Nord Stream", has urged investors in the first phase of the project to adjust the cost of financing of the first phase of the project to the amount of EUR 3.9 billion, RIA Novosti reports.The Nord Stream administration has asked the banks to provide a more favorable financing for the whole project. The purpose of the request is to bring the rates for financing the first phase of the construction into accordance with rates of financing the second phase of the project, amounting to EUR 2.5 billion.

The Washington Post reported that the United States, Britain, France and Germany are accusing Iran of violating U.N. sanctions prohibiting any launches using ballistic missile technology, as well as an arms embargo. U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice said the four countries reported the ballistic missile violation to the Security Council committee monitoring sanctions against Iran. Britain’s U.N. Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant said the violation occurred when Iran launched the Rasad 1 satellite in June,, “which is dependent on ballistic missile technology.”

Gazprom ready to deliver gas via Nord Stream

Russia's Gazprom says it's almost ready to deliver gas via the Nord Stream pipeline. The first pipeline of the project has already been constructed and is almost ready to be put into operation, RIA Novosti recently reported.The official opening of the first pipeline of the Nord Stream project is scheduled for September 2011.

Putin does not rule out third Nord Stream line

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin does not exclude that they maybuild a third line of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, RIA Novostireports.Putin said that they are about to start construction of the Southern Stream.
